HLAA 2020 Chicago Walk4Hearing was held virtually on Sunday, October 4th.  The HLAA Chicago North Shore Chapter team for the Walk4Hearing is called “Sound Off for Hearing”. Our team raised $4,132 for the 2020 Walk4Hearing. 50% of those funds go directly to HLAA National, 40% are sent to our Chapter and 10% will be used to seed the 2022 Walk4Hearing. All affiliate teams who participate in the Walk4fHearing are able to raise funds for their 501(c)(3) cause.

There are many families who honor their young children who have hearing aids or cochlear implant (CI) who participate in the Walk4Hearing. This year American Girl partnered with HLAA and donated one Joss Doll to every Walk4Hearing across the country.  Joss is the Girl of the Year 2020 who is a fierce surfer girl who never backs down from a challenge and is a cheer leader. Joss also wears one hearing aid. It is so wonderful to see these delighted children who have won Joss this year. These children have no qualm of telling us they wear a hearing aid or CI.

The Chicago Walk4Hearing brings people together from all walks of life. Clearly all of us together, from toddlers to seniors, made hearing loss a little more accepted for all.
