We are the Chicago North Shore Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA). We have varying degrees of hearing loss. We all have hearing aids or plan to get them; some of us have moved beyond hearing aids to a  cochlear implant in either one or both ears. We do not use American Sign Language. We join together to support each other, learn from each other and enjoy each other’s company.

We welcome you to join us on the 2nd Monday of each month from 10 a.m. until Noon, in the Lindon Lounge of the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield, IL. Our monthly meeting programs will help you gain a better understanding of what it means to live well with a hearing loss through education in a supportive environment. We host excellent guest speakers on a variety of topics, demonstrations of assisted listening devices, panel discussions, and advocacy!  The meeting room is equipped with an induction hearing loop. We also provide live captioning.

Many of our members take advantage of two support groups, Speech Reading and Sound Off, offered by the North Shore Senior Center on the other Mondays of each month at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Further information on these support Groups can be found under the Support heading.
