WHO WE ARE
We are the Chicago North Shore Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA). We have varying degrees of hearing loss. Some know they have hearing loss and are thinking about getting hearing aids. Others have hearing aids or plan to get them; some of us have moved beyond hearing aids to a cochlear implant in either one or both ears. We do not use American Sign Language. We join together to support each other, learn from each other and enjoy each other’s company.
All are welcome to you join us on the 2nd Monday of each month from 10 a.m. until Noon, in the Lindon Lounge of the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield, IL. Our monthly meeting programs will help you gain a better understanding of what it means to live well with a hearing loss through education in a supportive environment. We host excellent guest speakers on a variety of topics, demonstrations of assisted listening devices, panel discussions, and advocacy! The meeting room is equipped with an induction hearing loop. We also provide live captioning. Please note: Due to the Coved-19 pandemic These monthly meetings are being held virtually. Please see the "Our Next Meeting" tab under the EDUCATION tab above
Many of our members take advantage of two support groups, Speech Reading at 10:00 a.m. and Sound Off at 11:00 a.m. on all the other Mondays of each month, excepts the second Monday, which is our Chapter meeting. The support groups are offered by the North Shore Senior Center. Further information on these support groups can be found under the Support heading. Please note: Due to the Coved-19 pandemic These support group meetings are being held virtually. Please see the "Speech Reading and Sound Off" tabs under the SUPPORT tab above
